It’s a sanctuary, a testament to nature’s tenacity. Imagine Berlin in 1909. The world was on the cusp of monumental change, and amidst the rumbles, this haven began as a humble school garden. Botanischer Volkspark Blankenfelde-Pankow offered a quiet space for learning and growth. The park weathered two world wars, its grounds repurposed to provide sustenance, a victory garden in a time of strife. It was in 1912 that the “Geology Wall” arrived, relocated from Humboldt Park, a tangible reminder of Earth’s deep history, a unique feature in Botanischer Volkspark Blankenfelde-Pankow. More than 123 rock types, assembled from all corners of Europe, tell a silent story of geological time. Fast forward to 1977. Humboldt University recognized the park’s potential, embracing it as a living laboratory.
