In 1962 four men met to study God’s Word. This humble beginning marked the start of Northside Missionary Baptist Church. Reverend Cleothus Montgomery became the founding pastor. He led the church for 54 years. Northside was a vibrant force in the community spiritually politically and academically. The church grew rapidly. It moved to four different buildings to accommodate its expanding congregation. In 2000 Northside purchased its current building. They added the Cleothus Montgomery Family Life Center. Today Pastor Valor Cooper builds on Dr Montgomery’s legacy. He encourages spiritual growth using a biblically centered approach. Northside continues to impact its community. It aims to exemplify Christ’s character spiritually socially economically and morally. The church’s motto is “where everybody is somebody BECAUSE Jesus Christ is Lord”. It’s a place of worship and community engagement. Sunday services and Bible studies are regular events. Northside Missionary Baptist Church is a cornerstone of faith.
