Tucked away in the bustling Daxing District of Beijing, lies Beicaicun, a village steeped in history. Beicaicun, meaning “North Zang Village,” offers a glimpse into a past that stretches back centuries. Let’s explore the captivating story of Beicaicun together. Beicaicun wasn’t always the town we see today. Its roots lie in a small village, also named Beicaicun, which predates the current town. This seemingly ordinary village has witnessed remarkable transformations throughout its history. Before 1949, Beicaicun was part of Panggezhuang 2nd District in Daxing County, Hebei Province. After 1949, it transitioned through various administrative structures. It became Dazangcun Township, then Beizangcun Township, and later was administered by the Panggezhuang People’s Commune. Beicaicun even existed as its own People’s Commune for a time. It finally settled as Beicaicun Township in 1983 and was upgraded to Beicaicun Town in 2000. Today, Beicaicun Town encompasses seventeen villages, each contributing to its rich tapestry. As of 2020, Beicaicun is home to over 35,000 people, a testament to its enduring appeal. Beicaicun is located at 39°41′06″N 116°17′48″E and sits at an elevation of 40 meters. It covers a total area of 52.55 square kilometers. Imagine standing in Beicaicun today, surrounded by the echoes of its past. This unassuming town, once a humble village, holds within its boundaries a story of resilience, transformation, and growth. Beicaicun is more than just a name on a map; it’s a testament to the enduring spirit of a community that has thrived through the ages.
