On a hilltop overlooking the San Fernando Valley sits Crespi Carmelite High School. It’s a place where young men are shaped into future leaders. Crespi Carmelite High School is a private, all-boys Catholic high school. It was founded in 1959 by the Carmelite religious order. The school is named after Friar Juan Crespí. He was an 18th-century Franciscan missionary.
Crespi Carmelite High School offers a rigorous college-preparatory curriculum. It includes 19 Advanced Placement courses. The school boasts a rich athletic tradition. Crespi’s Celts have won fourteen CIF Southern Section division team titles across various sports. These include baseball, basketball, football, track and field, water polo, and swimming. The basketball team achieved back-to-back state titles in 2015 and 2016.
The school’s motto is “Zelo Zelatus Sum Pro Domino Deo Exercituum”. This translates to “With zeal have I been zealous for the Lord God of Hosts.” Crespi Carmelite High School has an alumni network of 7,000. Several notable alumni have made their mark in various fields. These include professional athletes like NFL players Randy Cross and Russell White, MLB player Jeff Suppan, and NBA player De’Anthony Melton. Crespi also boasts alumni in the arts and entertainment industry like actor Michael Angarano. Business leaders and even a renowned chef, Evan Funke, are also among the school’s notable graduates. Crespi Carmelite High School continues to uphold its tradition. It focuses on developing well-rounded individuals with a strong foundation in character, faith, and service.
