Morr Siedelsbrunn’s story begins in 1012. The name Sidilines Brunnon appears in ancient texts. This marks the first mention of the village. A border dispute arose between the Bishop of Worms and the Abbot of Lorsch Monastery. This dispute led to the precise border of the Heppenheim district being written down. The border ran from Sidilines Brunnon to Schönmattenwag and on to Ulfenbach.
Lorsch Monastery held sway over Morr Siedelsbrunn for centuries. Its rise and fall shaped the village’s destiny. In 1556 the Kurpfalz introduced the Reformation ending the monastery’s power. The religious landscape shifted. Morr Siedelsbrunn saw shifts in faith between Lutheran Reformed and Calvinist beliefs.
The Thirty Years’ War left Morr Siedelsbrunn almost deserted. The Kurpfalz implemented a policy of religious tolerance for resettlement. Subsequent wars like the Palatine War of Succession and the War of the Spanish Succession hindered progress. Many Palatinates emigrated to North America and Prussia.
In 1803 Morr Siedelsbrunn became part of the Landgraviate of Hesse-Darmstadt. A great fire in 1824 destroyed over half the houses. The village rebuilt itself. In 1830 the first village school opened. The construction of a state road linking Neckarsteinach Abtsteinach Siedelsbrunn and Kreidach Heights in 1890 improved connectivity.
Administrative changes reshaped Morr Siedelsbrunn’s governance. In 1938 it became part of the Bergstraße district. The village’s own school closed in 1970. Children then attended schools in Unter-Schönmattenwag and Wald-Michelbach.
From 1953 to 1966 South Hesse’s only free-standing wooden ski jump stood near Morr Siedelsbrunn. The Hardberg ski jump was demolished in 1966. Morr Siedelsbrunn voluntarily joined the municipality of Wald-Michelbach on December 31 1971. An Ortsbezirk with a local council and mayor was established.
The Morr Siedelsbrunn coat of arms granted on July 16 1970 is symbolic. It features a golden shield with a black left flank a red well and a silver stream on the right and a silver horseshoe and cowbell on the left.
