Few companies can claim such a pioneering spirit in vehicle transport as Kässbohrer Transport Technik. Founded in 1893 in Ulm, Germany, by Karl Heinrich Kässbohrer, the company initially focused on wagon manufacturing. Let’s dive into the story of this innovative company.

Over time Kässbohrer Fahrzeugwerke evolved into a major vehicle manufacturer. A key expansion occurred in 1968 with the purchase of land in Salzburg-Taxham, Austria. This site became the home of the Austrian factory. Here, Kässbohrer built various commercial vehicles. They also manufactured PistenBully components and specialized vehicle transporters. The Salzburg-Taxham location also handled sales and service. This included repairs and spare parts for Setra buses, all commercial vehicles, and PistenBully snow groomers. By the late 1980s, Kässbohrer Austria employed around 850 people in Salzburg-Taxham.

After the parent company dissolved, brothers Heinrich, Ulrich, and Otfried Kässbohrer bought back the Austrian plant in 1995. They stabilized the business. Within five years, they increased sales by 250 percent. The company became a leading European manufacturer of vehicle transporters. Besides production, Kässbohrer expanded its commercial vehicle service division.

In 2000, Kässbohrer began building a new company site in Eugendorf. They opened it a year later. This new Kässbohrer Nutzfahrzeug-Servicecenter operated as a one-stop-shop concept for commercial vehicles. In 2007, the company founded Kässbohrer Car Carriers International, also based in Eugendorf.

Expanding further, Kässbohrer acquired ROHR Fahrzeugbau GmbH in Straubing in 2016. They renamed it ROHR Spezialfahrzeuge GmbH. ROHR specializes in refrigerated and tank vehicles. These are used for transporting mineral oil and for airfield and military applications.

Today, Kässbohrer Transport Technik specializes in open and closed car transporters. They also offer customized vehicle and steel construction solutions. Collaborating with VEGA International Car-Transport and Logistic-Trading, Kässbohrer developed a cargo carrier for ship and rail transport.

Kässbohrer Transport Technik continues to innovate. They focus on technically advanced vehicle transporters. These vehicles offer maximum functionality and optimum load factor for their customers. As early as 1950, Kässbohrer constructed the first motor-driven vehicle transporters. Today Kässbohrer is located in Eugendorf near Salzburg. The company is among the world’s leading manufacturers of vehicle transporters.

Kässbohrer has significantly improved its processes. By implementing E3.series, the company has streamlined the creation of assembly instructions and schematic documentation. Turnaround cycles for special projects have been reduced by 60 to 90 percent.

Looking ahead, Kässbohrer Transport Technik is focused on ease of use and cost-effectiveness. They are addressing the shortage of trained drivers. Ergonomics, simplified loading, damage prevention, and operating cost savings are key areas. Intelligent electromechanical solutions will play a crucial role in the future development of Kässbohrer vehicles.

From its humble beginnings in Ulm to its current status as a global leader, Kässbohrer Transport Technik exemplifies innovation and quality in the vehicle transport industry. The company remains dedicated to providing cutting-edge solutions. Kässbohrer meets the evolving challenges of international car logistics.
