Founded in 1989 Grace Community Church stands as a testament to faith and community. It began modestly meeting in homes. Soon a La Quinta Inn conference room became its temporary sanctuary for two years. Growth spurred a move to a larger space. In August 1991 the church purchased a building at 701 Kitty Hawk Road. This included two acres of land. Initially services were held in the building’s front section. Sunday school classes met upstairs and in the warehouse. By 1992 the congregation had outgrown even the warehouse. Partitions were repeatedly moved back to accommodate the growing number of worshippers. Grace Community Church’s journey reflects its commitment to sharing the Gospel. The church’s leadership emphasizes the importance of faith in Christ. This is expressed through love and acceptance. The church aims to reach Universal City San Antonio and eventually the world. It strives to be a place of support and encouragement. Grace seeks to offer answers to those in need. The church is led by a team of seven pastors under a Lead Pastor. A Senior Leadership Team develops long-term strategies. This team includes the Lead and Executive Pastors. The Lead Pastor with pastoral team counsel makes final decisions. A Board of Directors offers counsel accountability and feedback. This board meets quarterly or as needed to review plans. An Accountability Board provides additional oversight. This board can remove the Lead Pastor. This is only after an investigation by the Board of Directors. Grace Community Church continues to grow and serve its community. It remains a beacon of faith in San Antonio.
