Ever wonder what goes on behind these walls? We are standing in front of Christburg Campus Berlin. It is more than just a collection of buildings. It is a vibrant community. It enriches Berlin’s educational landscape.
Christburg Campus Berlin is a non-profit association. It supports Christian schools and day-care centers. Members come from various evangelical churches. They also come from free churches and Christian communities in Berlin.
Let’s step back in time to 1987. The Freie Evangelische Schule Berlin was founded. Wolfgang Boguslawski was the chairman. It was entered into the register of associations.
In 1988, the Elisabeth-Abegg-Grundschule opened. It was the first primary school. It started in the former Lazarus Hospital in Wedding. With only 20 students, it was Berlin’s smallest school.
The school moved several times. In 1989, it moved to the Paul-Gerhardt-Stift. By 1991, it relocated to Karlshorst. It occupied the building of today’s Catholic University of Social Work.
August 1, 1993, marked a milestone. The school gained state recognition as a substitute school. In 1994, the school moved to Niederschönhausen. Friedrich Eckert became chairman. Clemens Volber became the first full-time manager.
The Corrie-ten-Boom-Schule was founded in 1998. It started as a secondary school with 18 students. It gained state recognition in 2002.
In 1999, both schools moved to this location. It is a historic school ensemble in Christburger Straße. Since 2005, the association has owned the buildings.
2006 saw expansion. The Arche-Grundschule in Hellersdorf and the Immanuel-Schule in Spandau opened. They operated under the umbrella of FESB. In 2008, the first primary school was renamed Christburg-Grundschule. The secondary school became Corrie-ten-Boom-Schule.
In 2009, the FESB celebrated its 20th anniversary. It had 550 students and 140 employees.
In 2010, the secondary school transformed. It became an integrated secondary school due to Berlin’s school reform.
Heinz Kiock took over as chairman in 2011. The Arche-Grundschule moved to its current location.
2013 marked further growth. The FESB founded Freie Evangelische Schulen Berlin GmbH. It became the new school operator. Two day-care centers opened.
In 2014, the association was renamed Christburg Campus Berlin e. V. The school and Kita operator became Christburg Campus GmbH.
Today, Christburg Campus Berlin enriches the educational offerings of Berlin. They professionally and competently help children and teens grow. They focus on biblical principles. Their goal is for the children to become strong personalities. The campus creates a family atmosphere. Parents, teachers, and educators work together.
The Christburg Campus comprises several institutions. There are three day-care centers. Three primary schools also belong to it. The Corrie-ten-Boom-School is an integrated secondary school. They have locations in Prenzlauer Berg, Spandau, and Hellersdorf.
The Christburg Campus team lives their faith. They provide safe learning environments. They aim to make Jesus tangible. The staff inspires young people to discover the world. They equip children and teens to live meaningfully.
