“How did a small prayer house become this impressive church?” That’s the story of Nh\u00e0 th\u1edd T\u00e2n Th\u00e0nh. It is a story of faith hope and community. We stand before Nh\u00e0 th\u1edd T\u00e2n Th\u00e0nh today. It is a testament to the enduring spirit of Saigon’s Catholic community.
Nh\u00e0 th\u1edd T\u00e2n Th\u00e0nh has humble beginnings. It started as a small prayer house in 1965. Six hundred Catholics from X\u00f3m M\u1eafm established it. X\u00f3m M\u1eafm is now Ward 4 of T\u00e2n B\u00ecnh District. They dedicated it to Saint Vincent.
For a while Nh\u00e0 th\u1edd T\u00e2n Th\u00e0nh was part of T\u00e2n Vi\u1ec7t Parish. It officially became a parish on May 12 1973. Father Giuse Nguy\u1ec5n Thanh Khi\u1ebft became its first pastor. He helped organize the new parish. The small prayer house grew in popularity.
The year 1975 brought challenges. Many priests and parishioners moved away. Nh\u00e0 th\u1edd T\u00e2n Th\u00e0nh faced hardship. Religious activities became rare.
A new chapter began in 1998. Father \u0110aminh Ph\u1ea1m Minh Th\u1ee7y became the pastor. He saw the church’s deteriorating condition. He felt compassion for the small religious building. Father Th\u1ee7y started a savings program. It lasted ten years. The parish worked together to raise money. They bought land and expanded the church.
Finally on January 9 2010 Nh\u00e0 th\u1edd T\u00e2n Th\u00e0nh was completed. It opened its doors to the community. Not only local Catholics came. Visitors from afar came to admire its architecture. The new church had a modern European design.
Nh\u00e0 th\u1edd T\u00e2n Th\u00e0nh holds regular services. On weekdays mass is at 5:00 and 17:30. On Sundays mass times are 5:00 7:30 15:00 17:00 and 19:00.
The church is involved in many activities. It participates in arts and culture events. Nh\u00e0 th\u1edd T\u00e2n Th\u00e0nh often wins awards. Parishioners donate blood. They offer gifts to the poor during the C\u00e2y M\u00f9a Xu\u00e2n program. The church provides religious education. It trains the choir for important events.
