大阪市立中川小学校

In 1931, Osaka City established the Nakagawa Elementary School. This is the story of 大阪市立中川小学校. It began as Nakagawa Island Ordinary Elementary School. Later, it was renamed Nakagawa National School during the war years. After the war, in 1947, it became Osaka City Nakagawa Elementary School. The school continued to serve the community. In 1950, it established a special class for ethnic Koreans. Fast forward to the 2010s. Osaka City faced declining birth rates and smaller schools. This led to discussions about school reorganizations. In 2021, Nakagawa Elementary merged with Higashiyodogawa Elementary. The school adopted the name, Oike Elementary School, inheriting Nakagawa’s building and grounds. In 2022, part of Shoseiri Elementary School also joined Oike. Today, 大阪市立中川小学校, now known as Oike Elementary, is part of a linked education system. This system connects elementary and junior high schools. Oike Elementary shares its campus with Oike Junior High School. This creates a unique learning environment. It fosters collaboration and a sense of community. The students benefit from shared facilities. They also experience a smoother transition from elementary to junior high school.
