His life was marked by both favor and persecution. Initially favored by the Arian King Theodoric he later faced persecution. The king’s Arian beliefs clashed with Magno’s Catholic faith. Magno’s unwavering devotion never faltered. He continued his ministry. He tirelessly preached the Gospel. He showed compassion to the weak. He clothed the naked and freed prisoners.

His tomb bore an inscription praising his charity. The words highlighted his greatness not just in name but in life. Magno stood steadfast. He remained unyielding through good times and bad. His unwavering faith in God was his strength.

Magno died around 530. He was buried in the Basilica of Sant’ Eustorgio in Milan. Later his remains were moved. They were placed next to those of Saint Eustorgio. This was done by Leone da Perego in 1249.

The legacy of San Magno lives on. It lives on in Legnano. There a basilica stands in his honor. It proudly holds a relic of the saint. His name is also carried by a Contrada. This Contrada participates yearly in the Palio delle Contrade a vibrant tradition.
