“What exactly are boundary markers?” someone once asked. Boundary markers are special indicators. They define the borders of land. They are used to secure them. Territories of the Russian Federation relate to such objects. Municipal entities are also included.
In land surveying legislation does not define requirements. There are no requirements for securing boundary points with boundary markers. A cadastral engineer can determine requirements. This can be done in a contract. It is for cadastral work performance.
Three types of boundary markers have been established.
Type I is a metal pipe. It has a diameter of 3 to 7 cm. Its height is 105 cm. It can be increased. It depends on the ground. A boundary marker is installed on it. This type of boundary marker must have a tight bottom base. It needs a protruding core as a steel pin. It is 0.5 cm in diameter. There should be a metal plate for inscription on top.
Type II is a wooden pillar. Its diameter is at least 15 cm. The height measures 115 cm. This marker has a cross at the bottom. It is installed on a concrete block. The height of this block is 20 cm. The bottom base is 20×20 cm. The top measures 15×15 cm. The inscription is made on the pillar cut.
Type III is a metal mark. Its diameter is 5 to 15 cm. It features a cross-shaped notch. It also features an inscription.
The inscription on the boundary marker must contain the year. It also includes the number. The number agrees with the land surveying file. Other information on the sign may be specified. It is specified in the technical task. This task relates to the performance of work. Work is done to establish borders of land.
Boundary markers are installed on object borders. The borders are those to which land users do not relate. However their borders can also be secured. This is done with boundary markers. It is stipulated by a contract. The contract covers cadastral work performance.
Such markers are installed at border turning points. They are common for borders of three or more subjects. Subjects include the Russian Federation. They also include municipal entities or settlements.
The procedure for installing a boundary marker depends on its type. A type I boundary marker is installed with a metal rod. The rod is for driving the core into the ground. Then it is removed. Type I and II boundary markers must be laid to a depth of at least 80 cm. In addition they are surrounded by round pits. The pit has an inner diameter of 100 cm. Its depth is 30 cm. The width at the bottom is 20 cm. At the top it measures 50 cm. A mound 10 cm high is poured in the central part. This is necessary for boundary marker preservation. It aids its detection on site. Type III boundary markers are secured with cement mortar. They are secured to various structures. They may be borders or columns.
When installing a boundary marker reference points are placed. These points are with inscriptions. The side faces the next boundary marker. This happens when moving along the border clockwise.
