Ever wonder where Berlin’s ice-skating dreams come to life? Here at the Eissporthalle Glockenturmstraße. This isn’t just any ice rink. It’s a place where memories are made and legends are born.
The Eissporthalle Glockenturmstraße stands proudly near the Olympiastadion and the Waldbühne in Charlottenburg. It offers not one but two ice surfaces for skaters of all levels. One is a closed hall. The other is a covered outdoor area open on three sides.
Did you know the Eissporthalle Glockenturmstraße is affectionately known as P09 by locals? This modern ice sports arena replaced the old one. The previous Eissporthalle was torn down in 2001 during the expansion of the Messegelände.
Between 2010 and 2012 the Charlottenburg-Wilmersdorf district built this new arena. It served as a replacement. The nearby Deutschlandhalle was temporarily converted for ice sports. It bridged the gap until the new arena was ready. The Deutschlandhalle closed its doors to ice sports with a junior ice hockey tournament on April 26, 2009.
In November 2010 they celebrated the topping-out ceremony. The grand opening of the Eissporthalle Glockenturmstraße took place in March 2012. On March 3, 2012 it was officially opened for ice sports.
The Eissporthalle Glockenturmstraße has two competition-standard ice surfaces each measuring 30 meters by 60 meters. The indoor arena provides seating for 700 spectators and standing room for 300. The open-air ice surface is perfect for public skating during winter. In summer it transforms into a space for inline and roller skating.

Many Berlin ice sports clubs call this place home. These include Berliner Schlittschuhclub, SC Charlottenburg and EHC Berlin Blues. The ice surfaces have markings for both ice hockey and curling.
The Eissporthalle Glockenturmstraße hosted a qualifying tournament for the 2022 Winter Paralympics. In Para ice hockey teams competed fiercely for a coveted spot. Italy and Slovakia emerged victorious while Germany finished third.
During the Special Olympics World Summer Games 2023 the Eissporthalle was the stage for roller-skating competitions. This arena is more than just a place to skate. It is a venue that celebrates sportsmanship and inclusivity.
If you need skates you can rent them for a small fee. The Eissporthalle Glockenturmstraße is easily accessible by public transport. Take the S5 to Pichelsberg station. Or hop on bus M49, X34, X49 or 218 to Scholzplatz.
