Minister Blaylock is a devoted husband to First Lady Thelma M Perkins. He is a father of four. He has 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Family is important to him.

Minister Blaylock’s journey is inspiring. He attended Philadelphia Public Schools. He completed programs at The Opportunity Industrialization Center. He also attended Community College of Philadelphia and The University of Pennsylvania. In 1993, he graduated from The Bethlehem School of the Bible. He completed the Christian Research and Development Program.

Before leading Good Samaritan Baptist Church, Minister Blaylock served in the United States Army. He was honorably discharged in 1965. He is a retired carpenter and contractor.

Minister Blaylock founded The Overcomer’s Thru Christ Outreach Ministry. It operates at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital of Philadelphia. He serves with Imani Anti-Violence Youth. He is involved with Shepherds In the Street. He is on the Executive Board of the 34th Wards, 11th Division.

Minister Blaylock joined Good Samaritan Baptist Church under Rev. Walter L. Hackett. He served as a deacon. He was Superintendent of Sunday School. He directed Vacation Bible School. In 1991, he was licensed to preach. In 1997, he was ordained by The West Philadelphia and Vicinity Ministerial Forum. He served as Secretary, Vice President, and President.

In 2003, Minister Blaylock became Pastor. He introduced several ministries. These include Nurses Support Unit. There is also a Computer Class, Prayer Warriors and a Youth Ministry. He started a New Member’s Class. He also formed a Praise & Worship Team. Also the Leadership Council, Children of GOD Youth Choir, Good Samaritan Praise Dancers. He birthed the Women of Praise, Prayer and Purpose Ministry. Not forgetting the Men’s Ministry.

The church has Out-Reach Ministries. They participate in the Philadelphia Coalition Walk Against Hunger. They supported a Housing Project for Hurricane Katrina victims. They give to Brown’s Shop Rite. The church extends help from West Philadelphia to Liberia.

Minister Blaylock leads The Good Samaritan Baptist Church Male Chorus. His favorite hymn is Christ Is All. His life scripture is Psalms 46:1. God is our refuge and strength. He is a very present help in trouble.
