“Xuanbang Building, you say?” The old woman in the straw hat squinted at me, her hand shading her eyes from the sun. “A university, isn’t it? All those young people with their big dreams.” The Xuanbang Building, looming over us, was indeed home to the Southwest University of Finance and Economics. “It’s not just any ordinary university,” I said, my voice brimming with excitement. “It’s like a city within a city! It has everything a student might need, from classrooms to museums to even a fully equipped hospital.” The old woman nodded, remembering her own days as a student.
“This building’s history goes back to 1925,” I added, my voice dropping to a reverent tone. “It was a time of great turmoil in China but somehow, amidst the chaos, they managed to start this university, a beacon of knowledge and progress for all.” This was a time when the nation was trying to rebuild itself after centuries of turmoil. “Their first faculty was a group of passionate, determined individuals who wanted to educate the people, who believed that knowledge was the key to a better future.” They were determined to give the young generation the opportunity to learn and contribute to the growth of the country.
“The Xuanbang Building was different from the other universities,” I said, my eyes twinkling. “They had a big dream, and they wanted to create a space where students could truly learn and grow. Not just classrooms, but also places to explore their passions, like libraries, museums, and even laboratories for scientific research.” The building was much more than just classrooms, it was an environment to foster intellectual curiosity and creativity.
The old lady looked at the tall building, maybe visualizing the students hurrying in and out classrooms, working in labs, or discussing ideas in their clubs. “There’s a lot to learn here, ain’t there?” She said with a smile. “I suppose it’s a reminder that no matter what, the pursuit of knowledge never ends.” And indeed, this building has been a symbol of a continuous drive for progress in education and a place where countless students have passed through its doors, leaving their mark on the world.
