Among them were Percy H Clark George A Cortelyou Clarence Minton and Morris A Cadwalader.

The Van Buren Place Historic District wasn’t built overnight. Developer George Woodbury Stimson subdivided the land in December 1902. The Percy H Clark Company improved it significantly. It became part of the West Adams Street Tract. This tract encompassed 40 parcels. It extended from Budlong Avenue to Raymond Avenue. Adams and Twenty-Seventh Street formed its boundaries. The Van Buren Place Historic District was part of a larger prestigious community. The West Adams neighborhood held this status from 1900 to roughly 1950.
