The Shrine of the Most Holy Redeemer is not a parish. It is a designated shrine by the Vatican. It proclaims Jesus Christ as Lord and Savior. The shrine was dedicated on the Feast of the Presentation of the Lord. That was on February 2nd, 1993.
Imagine a church that seats nearly 2,000 people. The Diocese of Las Vegas needed a larger space. The Cathedral could not accommodate the growing number of tourists. Individuals and corporations funded the Shrine largely.
Look around you. Palm trees flank the church. The Luxor Hotel’s pyramid rises behind it. A bronze statue of Jesus surrounded by children graces the entrance. Jesus welcomes all with open arms.
Inside, discover hand-painted murals in the Capilla de Nuestra Señora de Guadalupe. These murals reflect the Hispanic roots of the region. Bishop Daniel Walsh commissioned them. They depict figures who brought faith to the Americas.
Notice the large crucifix above the altar. A mosaic of golden rays beams down from heaven. Hand-painted angels look on in serene adoration. Bronze tableaus illustrate the life of Christ on the side walls.

The Shrine of the Most Holy Redeemer has a unique history. Casino chips once filled the collection plate. A designated worker cashed them in at the casinos. A Franciscan friar was even called “the chip monk”.
Today, the Shrine of the Most Holy Redeemer continues to serve. It welcomes tourists and residents alike. Father Manuel Quintero is the current rector. Over 150 volunteers dedicate their time to various ministries. They ensure the Shrine can serve hundreds of people.
