Opened in 1972, Dublin Airport’s Terminal 1 has witnessed countless journeys. Originally built for 5 million passengers, Terminal 1 now bustles with over 20 million travelers yearly. This bustling hub serves as the main terminal for Dublin Airport. It acts as the gateway for a vast majority of airlines, making it a central point for global connections. Think Ryanair, Flybe, Air France, KLM, British Airways, Lufthansa, Air Canada, Delta, and many more. Terminal 1 also handles flights to Africa and the Middle East, managing both arrivals and departures. So, unless you’re flying with Aer Lingus, American Airlines, Emirates, El Al, or United Airlines, your Dublin adventure begins and ends right here in Terminal 1. Interestingly, even with the growth, Terminal 1 retains some of its original charm. Those concrete fins you see? They’re part of the original structure, although they’re slated for replacement soon as part of a major renovation. The facade and roof will be updated with energy-efficient materials, giving Terminal 1 a modern makeover while improving its sustainability. Inside, you’ll find a wide array of shops and restaurants, along with several business class lounges including the Aspire Lounge, Platinum Services Dublin Lounge, and No. 1 Lounge. While navigating Terminal 1, remember its alphanumeric gate numbering system. Gates A1, A01, and so on, are sequentially ordered. Keep an eye on the Flight Information Display Screens to locate your gate and flight details. And remember, while the airport strives to keep everyone within the main terminals, sometimes, due to capacity, some airlines, like Ryanair, might use remote stands. If this affects your flight, you’ll be notified in advance. Terminal 1, a cornerstone of Dublin Airport, has been a witness to over 450 million passenger journeys since its inception. It stands as a testament to the enduring spirit of travel and continues to evolve to meet the demands of a globally connected world.
