Masjid Nurul Qomar stands proudly in Batam’s Tanjung Riau. It’s a place of worship for Muslims. It’s also a cornerstone of the community. It originally began as a smaller musala. This humble structure served the growing needs of the neighbourhood.
In 1988 a group of dedicated individuals laid its foundation. Asep Husaeni Dendi Purnomo Indra Sakti Jon Arizal Pungky Bambang Priyambodo and the late TM Rizasyah were among them. Their vision was to create a space for spiritual growth and community gathering. They transformed a musala into Masjid Nurul Qomar.
The transformation was not instantaneous. It took years of hard work and dedication. Finally in 2022 the mosque was officially inaugurated. The ceremony was marked by the signing of a plaque. The head of Batam’s Ministry of Religious Affairs Zulkarnain Umar presided over it.

During Ramadan 2024 Batam’s city government visited Masjid Nurul Qomar. They conducted a Safari Ramadhan. They showed their commitment to community support. They presented a generous donation for its ongoing development. This donation was meant for the construction of new facilities. This will improve comfort for worshippers.
