NYC Health + Hospitals/Coler experienced significant flood damage. This spurred a wave of action. Senator Chuck Schumer championed a FEMA grant to bolster the city’s vulnerable public hospitals against future coastal flooding, including NYC Health + Hospitals/Coler. Now, a new era of resilience is dawning. A perimeter hazard mitigation system is being designed and constructed. This system, featuring a protective berm barrier, will shield the facility from even a 500-year flood event. NYC Health + Hospitals/Coler stands strong, ready to face the future and continue serving the community with the same dedication it has shown for over seventy years.
