Villa Festge is located at Cyriakstraße 39 in Erfurt. This grand residence whispers stories of Karl Festge. He was a man who made his mark on Erfurt.
Karl Festge wasn’t just any photographer. He was a savvy businessman. Festge owned brickyards and speculated in real estate. These ventures made him a wealthy man.
In the late 19th century, the Cyriakstraße became one of Erfurt’s most desirable addresses. Karl Festge commissioned architect Eduard Kayser to design his dream home. Between 1897 and 1899, Villa Festge rose from the ground.
Notice the castle-like appearance of Villa Festge. Terraces, open stairways, and a belvedere adorn the structure. The sandstone facade features intricate details. Look closely and you will spot a camera. It is a nod to Festge’s profession.
