“Another temple?” I hear you ask. Not just another temple. Today we explore Wat Srijantaram.
Wat Srijantaram is also known as Wat Khlong Luek or Wat Mai. This temple is a significant religious site in Bangkok. Wat Srijantaram is located in Bang Phlat district. It is specifically situated in the Samut Prakan province.
Wat Srijantaram has a rich history. Khun Ta Kieo and Nai Khuan helped build it. They were dedicated to constructing the temple. Construction began around 2496 B.E.
Phra Khru Phiphat Nirotkit, also known as Luang Pho Pan, greatly contributed. He encouraged people to donate for the temple’s construction. This made him an important figure. He even became Abbot.
Wat Srijantaram was officially established around 2520 B.E. It has since grown significantly.
The temple underwent major renovations. These renovations have improved the temple’s facilities. It now houses 158 monks and 13 novices.
Within Wat Srijantaram you will find several important structures. A sermon hall was built in 2497 B.E. A pavilion for religious activities was constructed in 2525 B.E. There is also an eight-meter wide and 26-meter long Ubosot. It was built in 2525 B.E. Additionally there is a multi-purpose pavilion.
Several significant Buddha images are housed here. Phra Winaithorn, Paññathiro is revered. Luang Pu To and other revered monks are also remembered.
The temple received royal status. This happened on the 30th of January 2524 B.E. The designated area spans 30 meters wide and 50 meters long. Education remains important at Wat Srijantaram.
