Vision for global impact. World Mission University began with a prayer in 1988. Oriental Mission Church wanted to train missionaries. They wanted to train pastors and laypersons. Two years later, the prayer turned into reality.
World Mission University held its first training classes. It moved to its current mid-Wilshire campus in 2003. This location puts students in downtown Los Angeles. Here, students experience stunning views. They enjoy architecture, live music, culture, and entertainment.
World Mission University faculty are faith-committed. They use the word of God as their handbook. Student life includes orientations and fellowships. Students enjoy bible study and book reading clubs. They participate in student ministry work at local churches. Personal counseling is available. Career services help graduates find ministry work. This includes opportunities locally and globally to serve Jesus Christ.
World Mission University offers master’s degrees. These include Master of Divinity. Degrees are available in theology or music. Bachelor’s programs are offered in biblical studies and music. Non-degree programs include early childhood education. There is an intensive English program. Also a music program and Christian counseling. Distance learning reaches students worldwide. It teaches them to be bible-centered. They become leaders in Christian ministry and the church.

Rev. Dong Sun Lim founded World Mission University. His firm determination was that the Global Village is My Ranch. He believed no place was too far. No place was too remote to take the gospel. Founder Lim was a life-long missionary. He had a passion to take the message of the gospel to the world. Founder Lim wanted to raise up Christian leaders. He wanted them to expand the kingdom of God. World Mission University trains pastors, missionaries, and lay leaders. It helps them impact the world for Christ.
Lim’s vision was a quality educational institution. It would be strong academically and spiritually. He dreamed World Mission University would become a Korean Harvard. Also a Korean Yale and a Korean Princeton.
The University has strategic goals. They include Inclusive Biblical Education. Also Cultural Diversity and Innovative Models. World Mission University seeks transformational biblical education. It promotes a broader understanding of biblical education. The University expands its educational impact by reaching other ethnic groups.
World Mission University was initially named World Mission Theological Seminary. It was authorized to issue degrees in 1991. The name changed in 1993. This reflected the school’s broader offering of programs. World Mission University is accredited. The School of Theology is also accredited. These agencies are members of the Council for Higher Education Accreditation. They are recognized by the US Department of Education.
