Overlooking Geneva’s cityscape Parc Trembley’s history unfolds. This isn’t just a park it’s a living testament to time.

Parc Trembley began its life as part of a larger estate. Abraham Trembley acquired the domain of Moillebeau in 1757. The Trembley family owned the land for almost two centuries. Their grand manor house still stands. It’s just across Rue de Moillebeau. The city of Geneva took ownership in 1930.

Parc Trembley is more than just green space. It’s a place of activity and community. A school stands within its boundaries. Children splash in a wading pool. Others play on a playground. Sports enthusiasts find fields for football and basketball. Mature trees provide shade and beauty. The park’s sloping lawns offer stunning views.

Parc Trembley is also home to a unique art installation. “Les Réverbères de la Mémoire” honors the bond between Genevans and Armenians. The project commemorates the Armenian genocide of 1915-1917. Nine bronze candelabras stand tall. They feature universal messages etched into their surfaces. The light bulbs are replaced by chrome “tears”. At night these tears are beautifully illuminated. The project’s journey to Parc Trembley was long. It began with a different location in mind. It was even considered for Parc de l’Ariana before finding its final home.

Parc Trembley’s ecological management is noteworthy. The city manages its green spaces without chemical products. Parc Trembley prioritizes biodiversity. Insect habitats are created. Old oak trees are protected. The park thrives with diverse plant life. Birdhouses encourage avian residents.

More than just a park Parc Trembley is a place of history. It’s a green lung in the city. It’s a space for reflection. It is an homage to the past and a testament to the future. So take a moment to appreciate this remarkable space. Experience the beauty and history of Parc Trembley.
