The buildings here are special. They are Type-68 series buildings. These were designed by Hamburg’s building authority. The Grundschule Mümmelmannsberg has a unique twist. Most Type-68 buildings have three floors but this school has a mix. There is a two-story wing and a three-story wing. This design was chosen because of lower student numbers at the time.

The school’s design features a rising connection between the wings. Other schools like Islandstrasse, Edwin-Scharff-Weg, and Fuchsredder share this design. These schools adapted to changing needs in the 1970s.

Over the years, the Grundschule Mümmelmannsberg has grown. A subject wing was added in 1976. The entrance area followed in 1977. The gymnasium was completed in 1978. A further subject wing was added in 1985.

The Grundschule Mümmelmannsberg remained an independent primary school during the 2010 Hamburg school reform. In 2013, a new cafeteria was built to support all-day care. This cafeteria has a warming kitchen and a dining room. It can seat 200 students. The cafeteria’s north side features light brickwork. The other sides have red fiber cement panels.

This school focuses on being inclusive and individual. It wants to be a lively place. The Grundschule Mümmelmannsberg supports every child’s talents. It celebrates diversity. The school addresses each student’s needs.

The Grundschule Mümmelmannsberg offers special programs. These include instrumental courses and gifted student support. There is language support and psychomotor exercise. Students can participate in conflict resolution and math assistance. The school also has a student parliament and a learning oasis.
