“Fancy a Cambridge education?” St. Andrew’s College Cambridge has offered just that to students worldwide since 1976. It stands near the world-famous University colleges. This location provides a unique environment for academic pursuit.

St. Andrew’s College Cambridge is the oldest tutorial college in Cambridge. It started by helping students prepare for A-levels. Teachers initially taught individual subjects in their own homes.

The college quickly became successful. Student numbers increased so a school site was needed. Two buildings were leased on Station Road. Also, a building on Free School Lane was rented. It sat right in the center of Cambridge off the market square.

St. Andrew’s College bought a new site on Regent Street in 2013. It began running university foundation programs in 1998. GCSE courses were introduced in 2007. That same year, Wayne Marshall joined the college. He taught business studies and economics. He became College Principal in 2010. He has remained at St. Andrew’s ever since.

Pre A-level courses started four years ago. Two new buildings on Station Road were re-acquired. These had been rented to a summer school provider. They now provide further classroom space.

St. Andrew’s College Cambridge was purchased by Dukes Education in 2021. Dukes Education is one of the fastest-growing education businesses in the UK. An Astroturf was laid at the back of the college the following year. A new college canteen and Science Centre opened in Glisson Road in January 2023.

In January 2024, St. Andrew’s College Cambridge officially opened its new flagship Hall of Residence. It has been fully refurbished. It offers nine single and one double room. All rooms are ensuite. Three more halls of residence will open giving a total of ten.

In terms of teaching spaces, St. Andrew’s College Cambridge built two additional state-of-the-art Physics rooms. These are behind building 11 on Station Road. One was built in 2023 and another in 2024.

St. Andrew’s College offers a range of courses. These include Pre A-Level, GCSEs, and A Levels. They also offer 12 university foundation courses. These include Architecture, Engineering, and Business.

Over the last 40 years, St. Andrew’s College has helped thousands of students enter top UK universities. Eighty-seven percent of Foundation students progressed to a top 20 UK university. Many St. Andrew’s College students receive more than three offers from Russel Group Universities. St. Andrew’s has been accredited by NCFE & OFSTED since 1976. It is a highly trusted sponsor on the UKVI system.

Many teachers are retired lecturers, professors, or PhD graduates from Cambridge University. In 2015, St. Andrew’s College was ranked in the top 200 schools in the United Kingdom for A-level results.

St. Andrew’s College owns six residence buildings. Each residence has a permanent staff member who lives on site. The residences are exclusively for St. Andrew’s College students. The residences offer a safe comfortable and convenient alternative to homestay accommodation. Students often walk or cycle between their residences and school.

St. Andrew’s College offers a range of extra-curricular activities. These suit a broad spectrum of interests. Students can choose from sports, social, cultural, and academic activities. Options include football, basketball, squash, STEM, Student Council, and Photography/ Design Club. The college also hosts competitions. These include creative writing, photography, and the Senior Maths Challenge.
