“Can we make crossing the road an experience?” That must have been the question asked when designing the Shuiwei Pedestrian Bridge, also known as the Yousong Pedestrian Overpass. It stands here on Fuqiang Road, Futian District, in Shenzhen.

This Yousong Pedestrian Overpass isn’t just a way to get from one side of the road to the other. It is an important part of the city’s multi-level system to keep traffic flowing.

Completed in 2020, the Shuiwei bridge connects Huanggang Park with residential areas. It links schools, too. The Yousong Pedestrian Overpass makes crossing the road safer and more efficient.

Notice how the roof has only one column supporting it. This single-column design gives you clear views of the scenery. You can see everything around you as you walk across the Yousong Pedestrian Overpass. This design enhances your walking experience.

The designers wanted to minimize disruption during construction. That’s why they used prefabricated modules. These modules were made in a factory. This made the construction process faster and safer. It also reduced traffic jams and air pollution.

Look at the ceiling. The aluminum panels have a wood texture. The light yellow color makes the bridge feel warmer. It blends in with the green landscape around the Yousong Pedestrian Overpass.

Also, see the plants along the handrail. Bougainvillea Rubra blooms from November to June. Different plants are selected for each season. The Yousong Pedestrian Overpass looks beautiful all year round.

At night, the lighting makes the bridge glow. Lights under the umbrella create X-shaped shadows on the ground. It is a unique and interesting design.

The roof uses a Titanium Standing Seam Roof System. This system hides the support structure. It protects the bridge from thermal expansion and contraction.

The Yousong Pedestrian Overpass includes elevators on both sides. These elevators make the bridge accessible to everyone. Elderly people, disabled people, and those with luggage can use the bridge easily.

The zintek titanium zinc cladding emphasizes the lightness of the roof. The edges of the roofing umbrellas are tapered. This creates a series of narrow borders.

The design allows rainwater to drain efficiently. Rainwater flows into flower troughs. Then it collects at the end and drains into the green area.

Chinese architect Fan Tie designed the Yousong Pedestrian Overpass with pedestrians in mind. The single-column structure provides unobstructed views. The materials and lighting create a pleasant experience.

The Yousong Pedestrian Overpass isn’t just a bridge. It is a thoughtfully designed space. It improves the quality of life in this busy city.
