Joyful music fills the air here at Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church. This church is more than just a building. It is a community hub where faith and fellowship intertwine.
Shepherd of the Valley Lutheran Church puts children at the center. The church has an excellent Sunday School program. The ABC Barn Children’s Place preschool helps children grow in faith. The church embraces Christ’s words that encourage children to come to Him.
Music is integral to the spirit of Shepherd of the Valley. Upbeat hymns fill each Sunday morning. The congregation joins hands to sing the Lord’s Prayer. This tradition unifies hearts before Holy Communion.
Shepherd of the Valley is part of the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America. The church shares a living confidence in God’s grace. This faith helps members discover and participate in God’s work.
In August 1972 Pastor Wesley Tollefson started a Lutheran Church in Maple Valley. The congregation first met in a school. As the community grew land was purchased. The first church building was completed in 1978. A larger sanctuary was needed as the congregation grew. In 2005 services moved to the new sanctuary.
Everyone is welcome to come as they are. You will see people wearing everything from suits to t-shirts. Baptism is a key part of the Lutheran faith. It welcomes people into the community.
All are welcome to take communion. Christ is the host and everyone is a guest. There are allergen-free options too.
Pastor Andy Arnold leads the church since 2013. He helps people know that they are loved by God. Kathy Fix is the Office Administrator. She has been a member of Shepherd of the Valley since 1986. Ken Riggs serves as the Music Director.
Shepherd of the Valley’s members love to read the Bible. They listen for how God speaks to them through the ancient texts. The church encourages people to extend God’s welcome. This welcome is bigger than what can be imagined alone. Prayer and song nourish life together here at Shepherd of the Valley.
