Katy High School, a beacon of knowledge, stood ready to nurture young minds. The first graduating class of Katy High School, in 1900, marked a milestone for the community. It symbolized the promise of education and a brighter future. Over the years, Katy High School has grown, evolving with the times and the changing needs of its students. Today, Katy High School sits on a sprawling 100-acre campus. It’s a vibrant hub of learning, serving over 3,500 students in grades 9 through 12. The school draws students not just from Katy, but also from Harris, Waller, and Fort Bend Counties. Katy High School prides itself on being the “Home of Champions”. Its athletic programs have achieved legendary status, boasting numerous state championships. The roar of the Tigers, the school’s mascot, echoes through the stadium during thrilling football games. The Tigers have claimed nine football state championships. These include titles in 1A in 1959, 5A D1 in 1997, 5A D2 in 2000, 2003, 2007, 2008, and 2012, and 6A D2 in 2015 and 2020. Katy High School has also celebrated two softball state championships. Beyond the playing fields, Katy High School has nurtured a remarkable array of talent. Its alumni have made their mark in diverse fields, from the gridiron to the silver screen. Country music star Clint Black once walked these halls. Actress Renée Zellweger also graced the classrooms of Katy High School. NFL quarterback Andy Dalton, a 2006 graduate, honed his skills on the school’s football field. And for those interested in a different kind of celebrity, ONE Championship MMA fighter Sage Northcutt is also a Katy High School alum. Katy High School continues to inspire.
