Rockmont Hall isn’t just a building. It’s a cornerstone of Colorado Christian University’s campus. Opened in August 2019 it’s a testament to the university’s growth. It’s more than just a residence hall. It’s a vibrant hub for students.
Imagine the scene on August 20 2019. The dedication ceremony concluded. Excited students moved into their new apartments. Rockmont Hall was finally open. This 115000-square-foot facility houses up to 330 undergraduate students. It offers a range of amenities. These include lounges common areas a grab-and-go café. Advanced technology ensures each room has internet connectivity. Wi-Fi access spans the entire facility. All rooms are apartment-style continuing a long CCU tradition.
Rockmont Hall’s name carries history. It honors Rockmont College a heritage institution of CCU. Founded in 1914 as the Denver Bible Institute it later became Rockmont College. This college sought to meet the demand for a Christian liberal arts college in the Denver area. In 1967 Rockmont College moved to Lakewood Colorado CCU’s current location. A merger with Western Bible College in 1985 formed Colorado Christian College. The college became Colorado Christian University in 1989. This was when it began offering graduate-level degrees.
The grab-and-go café inside Rockmont Hall bears another significant name. It’s named after Arturo Kinch a former Rockmont student-athlete and five-time Olympian. He competed in soccer basketball and downhill skiing for Rockmont. Later he founded the Costa Rica Ski Association. He even participated in five Winter Olympics.
Rockmont Hall isn’t just bricks and mortar. It represents the evolution of Colorado Christian University. It’s a testament to faith academics and community.
