It all began in December 1984. This building a former home was purchased. Hazrat Khalifatul Masih IV informally inaugurated it in May 1985. The official inauguration however only happened on April 8 1988. That’s when Hazrat Khalifatul Masih IV came to Scotland. He led the Friday prayers marking a momentous occasion.
But the story of the Bait-Ur-Rahman Mosque goes back further. Much further. A dream. A dream of Hazrat Musleh-e-Maud in 1945. He envisioned the spread of Ahmadiyyat in Scotland. He saw movement rising from a location 200 miles south of Glasgow. This ultimately pointed to Glasgow. Perhaps he saw the future of this very mosque. A place of worship and community. A place of peace and understanding.
The Bait-Ur-Rahman Mosque isn’t simply bricks and mortar. It’s a living entity. It hosts interfaith events and peace conferences. It welcomes people of all backgrounds. It actively engages with the broader Glasgow community. It embraces its motto “Love for All Hatred for None”.
