Nhà thờ Giáo họ Hạ Dương stands as a testament to the enduring faith of the community. Its story begins around 1795, a time when just a handful of families lived in Xám Dương, their lives interwoven with the broader populace. Their initial place of worship was a simple thatched house. It offered a haven for prayer and community. The parishioners gathered there to find solace and express their devotion. Over time, their numbers grew. In 1904, the community undertook a significant renovation. The modest structure was transformed into a more substantial building of brick and tile. It measured 30 meters long and 11 meters wide. A welcoming front porch provided a space for gatherings. A side room offered additional space for meetings and activities. The total area encompassed 2,200 square meters. The year 2004 marked a centennial celebration at Nhà thờ Giáo họ Hạ Dương. It commemorated 100 years since the construction of the 1904 church. The ceremony was led by Father Giuse Ngô Quang Kiệt. The journey of Nhà thờ Giáo họ Hạ Dương continued. In 2019, under the guidance of Father Giuse Vũ Ngọc Ruẩn, the old church was deconsecrated. An ambitious project to build a new church began. By mid-2022, the new Nhà thờ Giáo họ Hạ Dương was complete. Its impressive dimensions reached 33 meters high, 34 meters long, and 13 meters wide. The architectural style blended Western Gothic influences on the exterior. Traditional Vietnamese elements graced the interior. From November 2022 to April 2023, the three-story parish house was built and finished. From June to November 2023, the grotto was completed. Finally, on April 20, 2024, Archbishop Giuse officially elevated Nhà thờ Giáo họ Hạ Dương to the status of a parish. From a simple thatched house to a magnificent church, Nhà thờ Giáo họ Hạ Dương’s history mirrors the resilience and devotion of its community.
