Let’s go inside the Church of St. George the Victorious and see how the lives of those who fought and died in the Great Patriotic War are remembered here. The Church of St. George the Victorious is located next to the Victory Park memorial complex in Moscow. The church was built not long before the 50th anniversary of the victory in the Great Patriotic War. The foundation stone was laid in 1993, and the church was consecrated in 1995. Inside, you can admire paintings depicting the scenes of the war, and also see mosaic icons that capture the essence of this historic event. The iconostasis was made by A. Chashkin. The authors of the bronze bas-reliefs are Z. Anjaparidze and Z. Tsereteli. The church contains part of the relics of the Great Martyr George the Victorious, donated by the Jerusalem Patriarch Diodorus and transferred to the temple in 1998. The church is visited not only by those seeking spiritual solace but also by those who wish to pay their respects to the heroes of the past.
