Art transcends language. Whitestone Gallery Seoul embodies this spirit. Whitestone Gallery Seoul celebrated its grand opening on September 2, 2023. Seoul has recently become a major presence in the art scene.

This marks the first entry of a Japan-based gallery into the Korean art world. It is drawing significant attention. The gallery is in Yongsan-gu. Namsan is nearby. Namsan is rich in nature. Seoul Tower sits at its center. It is a popular tourist spot. Namsan offers relaxation for Seoul citizens.

Kengo Kuma oversaw the interior design. The gallery blends with Seoul’s beautiful landscape. The rooftop displays sculptures. Visitors enjoy magnificent views of Seoul. Lush greenery of Mt. Namsan provides a backdrop.

Miwa Komatsu held a live painting at Bongeunsa Temple. This happened on the opening day. Bongeunsa Temple is in Gangnam-gu. VIPs from home and abroad attended the opening party. The press also attended. Enthusiastic art lovers were present. A ribbon-cutting ceremony followed the live painting.

Whitestone Gallery collaborated with “Artsy” the following week. They also had an exhibition at “Kiaf” art fair. “Kiaf” coincided with Frieze Seoul. Whitestone Gallery presents a space. Numerous artworks and unique designs blend together here.

White Cube Seoul is in the heart of Gangnam-gu district. The gallery has exhibition spaces. It features a private viewing room and offices. These span over 300m². Jini Yang leads the gallery as Korean Representative and Director. She joined in 2018.

The ground-floor gallery faces the street. It is near Dosan Park. Cultural institutions are nearby. SONGEUN Art and Cultural Foundation is close. The building is ceramic-encased. Horim Art Centre is also housed here. Horim Art Centre is a renowned private museum. It has a collection of Korean modern art and antiquities.

White Cube Seoul presents Mona Hatoum’s first solo exhibition in Korea. It runs from March 6 to April 12, 2025. Hatoum was born in Beirut, Lebanon in 1952. She is from a Palestinian family. She has lived and worked in London since 1975. Her work includes installation sculpture video photography and works on paper. Her art is both poetic and political.

Alex Carver will have his first solo exhibition in Asia. It is part of the “Inside the White Cube” program. This will be at White Cube Seoul in April 2025. Carver was born in Boise, Idaho in 1984.

Tunji Adeniyi-Jones’s solo exhibition “Immersions” runs until February 22, 2025. He debuts a new series of paintings. It explores the diasporic body. It also explores African subjecthood and autonomy.

Remember to check out Deo White Gallery. It is closed on Mondays and Tuesdays. It is also closed on Wednesdays and Sundays. On Fridays and Saturdays it is open from 10 am to 6 pm. There is no admission charge.
