In 1955, a small group of Dutch immigrants, seeking a spiritual home in their new city, founded Life In Christ Christian Reformed Church. They built their church in the heart of Salt Lake City’s 9th and 9th neighborhood. These post-World War II immigrants created a close-knit community. Most members lived just blocks from each other and the church. Life In Christ Christian Reformed Church quickly became a sanctuary, a little piece of the Netherlands nestled in the Utah landscape. Today, that same sense of family persists at Life In Christ Christian Reformed Church. Longstanding relationships weave a tapestry of warmth and familiarity. The church’s commitment to caring for others has extended its embrace to Native Americans relocating from reservations. It has also welcomed Cambodian refugees seeking solace from political turmoil. Over the years, Life In Christ Christian Reformed Church has grown to include university students, Chinese Americans, urban professionals, and locals exploring different cultures. This diverse congregation, united by their faith, finds kinship and belonging within the church walls. Life In Christ Christian Reformed Church boasts a congregation of around 80 attendees, with a membership of 85. The church, partially barrier-free, offers barrier-free sound and projection. The services at Life In Christ Christian Reformed Church are held at 10:00 am in English. The church has a rich history, guided by a succession of dedicated ministers. From Nicholas Vogelzang in 1955 to Jonathan S. Owens in 2022, these leaders have shaped the church’s spiritual journey. As Salt Lake City continues to evolve, so does Life In Christ Christian Reformed Church. The church stands as a testament to God’s enduring faithfulness, playing a vital role in both the city’s and God’s ongoing story.
