Opened in April 1969 the Kyoto City Nishikyo Kogyo Elementary School stands proudly. It welcomed 635 students that year. Seventeen grades filled its classrooms. The school’s initial building was incomplete. First and fifth graders were temporarily housed elsewhere. Other grades occupied a temporary building on the school grounds. This ensured a smooth start.
