Ever imagine a park conceived by garden architects from Frankfurt? That’s the Wilhelmspark. Today, we are standing at the Wilhelmspark in Bad Soden am Taunus. This park boasts a rich history and offers a serene escape.

The Wilhelmspark’s story began in 1911. The town of Bad Soden commissioned the renowned garden architects, the Gebrüder Siesmayer from Frankfurt am Main, to design it. Initially, it was named Kaiser-Wilhelm-Park. Its location was along the former main street, now known as Zum Quellenpark. Creating the park required demolishing old farmhouses including the Philosophengarten. On May 23, 1911, the Wilhelmspark was completed. A wire fence enclosed it because it was exclusively for spa guests.

However, in 1924, things changed. The local council decided to rename the park. It became part of the Quellenpark, a park located a few meters away, sharing the same name.

Years passed and the Wilhelmspark suffered neglect. By 1987/88, the park was in dire need of restoration. The city undertook a project to bring it back to its former glory. The renovation included the fountain systems of the Champagnerbrunnen, Glockenbrunnen and Winklerbrunnen. After the restoration, the park regained its original name, Wilhelmspark.

Today, the Wilhelmspark is located on Zum Quellenpark. Until 1977, this street was the main thoroughfare. To the north, the Wilhelmspark borders the Hundertwasserhaus, built in 1991, and the Sulzbach stream. To the west, it meets the Talstraße and the Lehrpark Rohrwiese.

The Wilhelmspark invites everyone. The park is a place for relaxation and recreation. Take a stroll along the paths. Enjoy the meticulously restored fountains. Reflect on the history around you. The Wilhelmspark stands as a testament to Bad Soden’s commitment to preserving green spaces for the well-being of its residents and visitors.
