The Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus traces its roots back to 1955. This was the year the Diocese of Kuala Lumpur was founded. Father Edward Limat played a key role. He wanted to serve Catholics in the Kampung Pandan area.
A building fund was set up. Land was purchased and the Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus was completed in 1960. Bishop D. Vendargon blessed it that same year in March.
The parish also includes the Chapel of Our Lady of Good Health. It is located at Lorong Satu in Kampong Pandan. Together they create a welcoming space for prayer.
The church at Jalan Peel attracts devotees of the Sacred Heart of Jesus. They come to offer thanks. They seek solace. The devotion to the Sacred Heart is an old tradition in the Church. It is observed every first Friday of the month.
