At Highland Park Full Gospel Assembly, the Holy Spirit is welcomed. The presence of God is celebrated. People seek His anointing and blessings. They hope to acquire the fire of His greatness. This includes breakthroughs, miracles, and healings.

Now let’s journey to another Full Gospel Church. This one has a rich history. The Full Gospel Baptist Church started in the summer of 1945. Rev. J.P King was the leader. For years, the church met in homes. Deacon & Sister Knight and Sister Cole opened their doors.
The Full Gospel Baptist Church persevered through trials. Several pastors gave leadership. These included Pastor Davis and Pastor Brown. Then came Pastor Johnnie Hitchens. He was a dedicated servant. Under his leadership, the church bought land. It was located at 10700 South San Pedro Street. They even received a building free of charge.
Pastor Hitchens led with love. Members renovated and refurbished the building. He continued until 1986. Health problems forced him to move to Dayton, Ohio. He appointed Rev. Jupiter to oversee.
In April 1986, Pastor R.V Higgins arrived. Like his predecessor, he loved the Lord. Renovations continued. New pews were added. The church body matured. In late 1991, his health declined. He continued in Jesus’ name until his death.
From 1992 to 1993, Rev. Jupiter aided the church again. Then, Reginald C. Payne arrived. He was a humble, strong, and compassionate servant. Under his leadership, the church thrived.
Pastor Payne brought fresh ideas. Since July 1993, the church has experienced growth. Membership increased from 25 to over 500. He renovated the building. He taught that believers are the Church.
The Full Gospel Baptist Church established a Community Development Corporation. They acquired tax-exempt status. Through Pastor Payne’s teaching, the church grew spiritually. It also grew numerically and financially.
In 2011, they purchased a new property. This created a North East Campus and a South East Campus. This expansion met the increasing demand. They strived to win souls and advance God’s Kingdom.
Reginald C. Payne is passionate. He wants people of all races to know Jesus Christ. He holds a Bachelor of Theology Degree. He completed hours toward a Master of Christian Education Degree. In 2008, he completed the Passing the Mantle program at USC.
Pastor Payne feeds his flock weekly. He uses solid exposition and the love of Christ. He is committed to renewing minds. He transforms lives through the Word of God. Besides his role at Full Gospel, he serves in other capacities.
