Fifty years. That’s how long the VfR Sölde has been kicking goals in Dortmund. Can you imagine the countless matches played on this very ground?

VfR Sölde is more than just a football club. It’s a living testament to the heart of Sölde a Dortmund district. Its history is interwoven with the community’s own ups and downs. From humble beginnings as a sports and games club in 1911 the football section officially separated in 1922. The club has known triumph and heartbreak. They’ve celebrated glorious victories and suffered crushing defeats.

The early years were marked by a fluctuating rise and fall. The club navigated the challenges of World War II. It faced dissolution in 1945. Reborn in 1951 it climbed through local leagues. The 1980s brought unprecedented success. Driven by the financial support of businessman Rainer Röhr the team ascended to the Oberliga Westfalen.

This period the club shone with an offensive playing style. They reached their zenith in the 1991/92 season. They became runners-up just missing promotion to the 2nd Bundesliga. The club’s success however was short-lived. Röhr’s financial support dried up leading to a voluntary relegation in 1997.

Despite their subsequent decline to lower leagues the VfR Sölde persevered. They faced ridicule but steadily rebuilt. By 2004 they achieved financial stability. Recent years have seen a slow but steady climb back up the league ladder. Their resilience embodies the spirit of Sölde.

Today the VfR Sölde plays at the Sportpark Rosengarten a stadium with a capacity of 1500. The club’s journey is a reminder that even after setbacks resilience and community spirit can lead to success. The legacy of the VfR Sölde is etched into the very fabric of Sölde a testament to dedication and unwavering passion for the beautiful game. Their story continues to unfold each match each season a reminder of their indomitable spirit.
