“Dedicated volunteers make Bodger Park special” someone once told me. This beautiful park spans 12 acres. It is a vital resource for the community. Bodger Park is nestled in a quiet neighborhood. It is surrounded by beautiful green trees. The park is home to some of the Department’s most dedicated volunteers.
With their support, the community enjoys many recreational activities. These include a thriving After School Program. Active youth sports programs also take place. Baseball, softball, flag football and soccer are all popular here.
Bodger Park also provides a Community Garden. With the support of local residents, the garden produces dozens of healthy foods each season. These are free of charge to support a healthier community.
The County of Los Angeles Department of Parks and Recreation manages Bodger Park. The department has a long and proud history. It meets the recreational needs of residents and visitors. This is achieved through programming and facilities. Land acquisition and environmental stewardship also play a role.
Prior to 1944, park operations were managed by two entities. The Parks Division maintained the physical aspects of parks. The Department of Recreation, Camps and Playgrounds administered park programs. On July 1, 1944, the Department of Parks and Recreation was created. All functions were merged into this new department.
Today, the Department owns 182 beautiful parks. These include natural areas and wildlife sanctuaries. There are also lakes, trails, arboreta, and botanic gardens. You’ll also find local, community, and regional parks.
Bodger Park offers various facilities. There are baseball fields and basketball courts. Children’s play areas provide fun for the little ones. A community center serves as a hub for activities. Restrooms are available for public convenience. You can also find barbecue facilities here. The community gardens allow residents to grow their own food. Concession stands offer refreshments. Picnic tables provide a place to relax and enjoy a meal. Softball fields are also available.
Bodger Park hosts various programs and events. A Summer Lunch program is offered. Day Camp provides exciting activities for children. These activities include singing and organized games. Arts and crafts are also part of the fun. Fun-filled field trips create memorable experiences. Proof of age and parental consent forms are required for Day Camp.

A Thanksgiving meal is provided to members of the community. A toy giveaway takes place during the holidays. Bodger Park is open from 6:30 am to 9:00 pm, Monday through Sunday. Staff and programming hours vary throughout the week. Restrooms are open from 7:00 am to 8:30 pm daily.
