Here we stand before the Universal City United Methodist Church a cornerstone of this community. Its history is intertwined with the growth of Universal City itself. The church wasn’t always here.
In 1962 the Universal City United Methodist Church was organized. Construction began on the building. This was a significant moment for a town then experiencing rapid expansion. The arrival of the Air Force Military Personnel function from the Pentagon further accelerated Universal City’s growth. The church became a vital part of that growth.
Think about it. A new church in a booming town. It provided a spiritual anchor a place of solace and community in the midst of rapid change. It offered more than just Sunday services. The Universal City United Methodist Church hosted many small groups. These served God and neighbor through various ministries like study serving outreach and administration. Over seventy such groups thrived within its walls.
The church’s Sunday schedule is a lively tapestry of activities. Worship services with Holy Communion are held. There’s Sunday school for adults. Children’s programs are offered. Youth groups meet. The church is a vibrant center of activity. It caters to all ages.
Today the Universal City United Methodist Church continues to serve. It’s a place for spiritual growth fellowship and community service.
