Fast forward to the late 1800s. The First Baptist Church of Boston found itself seeking a new home. They acquired this building in 1881. It cost them $100000. This magnificent structure was originally designed by Henry Hobson Richardson. It was for the Brattle Street Church. The Brattle Street Church dissolved shortly after its construction.
