“2970 new student places will be added,” boasts a district official. That’s the promise connected to this very building, the 博远楼, also known as the Beijing Third Experimental School.

This is not just another building. The 博远楼 building is part of a larger initiative. Beijing plans to construct six “experimental schools”. 博远楼 is one of them. More than half of these schools are already in place.

The location of 博远楼 is in Huairou Science City. It is to be managed by Tsinghua University High School. The school is expected to be completed in 2026.

The 博远楼 project uses the former Zhongguancun First Primary School Huairou Branch. The plan includes keeping 11,800 square meters of existing buildings. Nearly 60,000 square meters of new construction are planned. 49,900 square meters above ground and 9,725 square meters underground will be built.

The Beijing Third Experimental School includes primary and secondary schools. They will be separated by a green belt. Each section has indoor and outdoor activity spaces. This reduces interference between the different age groups. Traffic flow is carefully designed to avoid congestion.

The south gate serves primary and junior high students. A temporary drop-off area on the east side helps with traffic. It allows vehicles to stop briefly. This ensures student safety and reduces traffic pressure. An underground garage with entrances outside the campus separates pedestrian and vehicle traffic.

This project addresses a shortage of school places. The 博远楼 supports scientific talent in Huairou Science City. It meets the educational needs of local residents. The introduction of a “famous school” promotes balanced education. Tsinghua University High School will manage it.

Looking ahead, the Beijing Third Experimental School will have 36 primary school classes. There will be 36 secondary school classes with 18 each for junior and senior high. It will add 1,440 primary school places. Also, 720 junior high and 810 senior high places will be added.

The 博远楼 represents Beijing’s commitment to education. It supports both the Huairou Science City and its residents. As the project progresses, anticipation builds for the opportunities this school will offer. The school wants to cultivate future generations. The promise of 2,970 new student places is now turning into a reality.
