Far from the bustling city center, SK Taman Puteri stands as a beacon of knowledge. It is a place where young minds blossom. Established on November 16, 2003, SK Taman Puteri opened its doors on January 2, 2004. The school began with 225 students. There were 18 teachers and 2 support staff.
The students were divided into eight classes. There were two classes each for Years 1, 2, 3, and 4. SK Taman Puteri derives its name from a nearby housing area. It is Taman Perumahan Taman Puteri. The school is located in Mukim Cheras. It’s in the Hulu Langat district. Nearby, you’ll find Venice Hill condominium. Also close are SK Taman Cuepacs and SK Bukit Raya.
By 2008, SK Taman Puteri had grown. It now had 12 classes. There were additions for Years 5 and 6. The student population increased to 388. The headmistress was Pn. Adonie Bt. Adnan. The teaching staff numbered 26. This included four j-QAF teachers. There were also two support staff members.
In 2009, SK Taman Puteri had 185 male and 187 female students. This made a total of 372 students. There were 27 teachers. SK Taman Puteri achieved a significant milestone in 2015. The Ministry of Education Malaysia recognized it as a Sekolah Kluster Kecemerlangan. This was for its excellence in management, academics, and co-curricular activities. The school’s niche areas were English for academics. For co-curricular, it was Table Tennis.
From 2017, SK Taman Puteri excelled in these areas. They achieved success at zonal, district, state, national, and international levels. UPSR results also improved. More students achieved the Minimum Grade Level from 2017 to 2019.
SK Taman Puteri isn’t just a school. It’s a hub of activity. In 2009, the school held a Fitness Week. This involved all members of the school community. Activities included aerobics and healthy walks. There were also sports, coloring contests, health quizzes, and health exhibitions. Teachers and staff held a barbecue. This strengthened bonds between them.
SK Taman Puteri also excelled in competitions. In July 2009, the school choir won the Hulu Langat district competition. The school participated in both categories. The choir team was surprised and delighted by their win. The team consisted of Nurfarhah, Nur Rabiah, Nurul Shifa, and Wan Husna. Teachers Cikgu Zuffi and Cikgu Latifah guided them.
In June 2009, SK Taman Puteri participated in the Hulu Langat District Science and Technology Carnival. They competed in Story Telling Science, Young Scientist, and Eureka REE. It was SK Taman Puteri’s first attempt at Eureka REE. They had no expectations of winning. They only wanted to expose students to the event. However, SK Taman Puteri was announced as the champion. The representatives were Rahim Tay, Sushmitta, Anwar, and Aisyah. Teachers Cik Adzliana and Pn. Norhayati guided them. En. Huzairy, a practical training teacher, also contributed ideas. The school then represented Hulu Langat district at the state level in Sabak Bernam.
SK Taman Puteri is more than just bricks and mortar. It is a place of learning, growth, and achievement. It is a testament to the dedication of its teachers. It also shows the potential of its students.
