Our Own High School

Established in 1968 Our Own High School boasts a rich history. It’s one of Dubai’s oldest international schools. Initially located in Bastakiya the school later moved to its current location in Al Warqa’a. Our Own High School isn’t just a school it’s a vibrant community. It’s a place where students develop lively enquiring minds. The school’s ethos focuses on creating a stimulating and secure environment. Students are encouraged to explore their talents. This includes co-curricular activities like music dance public speaking sports art and drama. Our Own High School also has a strong commitment to academics. It follows the Indian Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) curriculum. The school believes students should be involved in building a curriculum that appeals to them. It has participated in the UAE National Robotic Olympiad for many years. Our Own High School students have represented the UAE in the World Robotic Olympiad. They even won the National Robot Olympiad in 2014. Beyond robotics students have excelled in other areas. They won first place in the Children’s Film Festival in Dubai. Their winning film was even shown overseas. Students also achieved first place in the Under 19 CBSE World Athletics Games held in India. Our Own High School has modern facilities. These include spacious classrooms a large multipurpose hall an indoor play area an art and craft room and a canteen. There’s a spacious library a composite laboratory and well-equipped science labs. Students have access to five computer labs. Outdoor facilities include basketball courts a volleyball court cricket nets and an astro-turf playground. The school also provides special coaching outside school hours. Our Own High School consistently receives high marks from inspections. In 2019 it received a Good rating from the KHDA inspection team. This was despite many aspects of the school exceeding that rating. The school’s academic achievements in English Maths and Science were rated Very Good. The school also excels in personal and social development and innovation. These are rated Outstanding. The involvement of parents is a strong feature of the school.
