On this very spot, the echoes of history still linger. Ngã tư Đức Hòa stands as a testament to the courage of ordinary Vietnamese people. Ngã tư Đức Hòa, this intersection of Provincial Roads 824 and 825, witnessed a pivotal moment on May 4, 1930. Imagine thousands of farmers, led by Châu Văn Liêm and Võ Văn Tần, gathering before the district chief’s mansion. Ngã tư Đức Hòa became the focal point of their protest. They rallied against oppressive taxes and unjust treatment. The demonstration at Ngã tư Đức Hòa, however, took a tragic turn. The authorities responded with brutal force. Châu Văn Liêm, along with many other protesters, were killed. Their sacrifice at Ngã tư Đức Hòa ignited the revolutionary spirit in Long An. Ngã tư Đức Hòa became a symbol of resistance. In recognition of its historical significance, Ngã tư Đức Hòa was designated a National Historical Site in 1989. The site has since been renovated. A statue of Võ Văn Tần stands tall, commemorating his role in the uprising at Ngã tư Đức Hòa. The grounds now include a park, a fence, and a diorama depicting the 1930 protest. Ngã tư Đức Hòa stands as a reminder of the sacrifices made for a better future. The spirit of resistance, born here at Ngã tư Đức Hòa, continues to inspire generations.
