“Where did the time go?” a student might wonder decades from now. Here at Toyonaka Municipal Tesima Elementary School memories are made. This school in Toyonaka City Osaka has a rich history. It began in April 1970. Toyonaka Municipal Tesima Elementary School was created from parts of three other schools. These were Tesima Elementary School Nakatesima Elementary School and Harada Elementary School.
At the start the school had 451 students in grades 1-3. There were 11 classes. The school also had 17 staff members. The first principal was Takeshi Kawanishi. In June 1971 the school finished its pool. The school song was also created. February 1972 saw the completion of the gymnasium.
Toyonaka Municipal Tesima Elementary School has grown over the years. In November 1979 the school celebrated its 10th anniversary. Events marked the occasion. In November 1989 the school held a ceremony for its 20th anniversary. A time capsule was buried. It is set to be opened in 2009.
The school faced a challenge in January 1995. The Great Hanshin Earthquake caused damage. The school buildings suffered cracks and other problems. In April 1995 the school was designated for volunteer activities. This helped students.
The school has adapted to modern needs. In September 1999 a computer room was installed. In 2004 an elevator was added. In March 2007 the central toilets were renovated. In 2016 solar panels were installed.
Toyonaka Municipal Tesima Elementary School celebrated its 50th anniversary in November 2019. The buried time capsule was reused. Another time capsule was buried. It will be opened at the school’s 60th anniversary.
The school faced a new challenge in 2020. In March schools closed due to COVID-19. This lasted until May. Despite challenges Toyonaka Municipal Tesima Elementary School continues to educate. It is a place where students can learn and grow.
