Established in 1978, Kyoto Prefectural Rakusui High School arose from the need to accommodate the burgeoning population of Fushimi Ward. Before its establishment, Kyoto Prefectural Momoyama High School bore the sole responsibility of educating the area’s youth. The opening of Rakusui High School alleviated some of the pressure on Momoyama High School, allowing for a more balanced distribution of students. The original uniform of Rakusui High School consisted of a green blazer and slacks for boys, and a green blazer and skirt for girls. It featured a distinctive green impact, cementing the school’s image as “Rakusui equals green.” Even today, the school retains this connection to its vibrant past. Kyoto Prefectural Rakusui High School stands as a testament to the community’s commitment to education. The school motto, “Independence, autonomy, challenge,” encapsulates the spirit of Rakusui High School.
