Hillcrest United Methodist Church’s story starts long before this building existed. It began almost 200 years ago with William Thompson’s log chapel. As the area south of Nashville grew, so did the need for a larger space. In 1958, the congregation made a pivotal decision. They chose to move to a 6.5-acre site on Raywood Lane. With the move came a new name: Hillcrest Methodist Church.
Ground was broken on June 14, 1959. The first services in this new location were held on January 3, 1960. Since then, Hillcrest United Methodist Church has continued to expand. More buildings have been added to the campus over the years.
But the story of Hillcrest United Methodist Church is not just about buildings. It is about the people and their mission. Hillcrest United Methodist Church seeks to live as Christ’s disciples. They focus on renewal through God’s word, worship, service, and community.
